Who can apply?

The United for Warm Homes Fund is open to community groups who have registered with the United for Warm Homes campaign, including Friends of the Earth local action groups. It’s intended to provide financial support that can make a real difference, either by building and developing your group, or by achieving a demonstrable positive impact on your campaign.

We’re extremely grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for supporting our United for Warm Homes Fund.

How often can a group apply to the fund?

You can submit separate applications for a total of £500 per financial year (July-June).

What do we need to include in our application?

The application form must be fully completed. Be prepared to provide the following information:

  • A clear objective that demonstrates benefits to your campaign and/ or partnership work.
  • A plan and timescale for meeting the objective.
  • A costing for the project.
  • An explanation of how the funding will help you recruit new people to the campaign and/ or strengthen your local partnerships.

Your group will also be required to submit an additional simple evaluation form once you’ve spent the awarded grant. If information is missing or vague, then it’s less likely that your group will be awarded an additional grant in the future.

Apply for a grant from the United for Warm Homes Fund to support the development of your campaigning activities or related partnership work.

FAQs

Can we apply for a grant retrospectively?

Grants mustn't be applied for retrospectively, except in an emergency. When there’s an urgent and compelling reason for financial assistance that couldn't have been foreseen, we’re able to issue grants at short notice.

What happens after we submit our application?

We’ll consider your application and aim to inform you of the outcome by email within 2 weeks.

How likely are we to receive the grant?

Grants will normally be awarded for standalone campaign projects. This could include promotional materials for an event, equipment for an action, venue hire, celebration of campaign successes, recruitment initiatives, partnership work etc.

Grants won’t be awarded for everyday group running costs (eg phone bills, internet connection, basic stationary costs) or ongoing funding needs.

Why do we need to fill out an evaluation form?

If your application is successful, you’ll receive a confirmation letter with payment details. Please complete the enclosed evaluation form. There are 4 reasons for this:

  1. To help you celebrate and learn from your work.
  2. To inform us of the impact of your activities.
  3. To help us give advice to other groups planning similar work.
  4. To inform future applications you make.
